The inspiration for this series came from wanting to mix contrasting styles of old Dutch painters like Hieronymus Bosch and Saturday morning cartoons from the nineties. Iāve been really excited by both references; the world-building is so complete while managing to stay zany and debaucherous, even. With Girl hitting a major anniversary means that there is an amazing archive tracking the past 30 years. In pulling from their history and making it all come to life around this huge, weathered monument felt like the right way to celebrate this milestone. And by blending both visual styles I was trying to recreate Girl lore as if it was depicted in a silly and deranged biblical event.
